Dear Friend,
Every year, Goldfarb and Associates makes a donation to the Marine Corps Toys for Tots in honor of our customers, vendors and friends. This year will be no different. However, in light of the pandemic, Toys for Tots is in desperate need of toys to distribute to children in need. Here are just a few bullet points regarding this year's need.
- Because of the pandemic, the need is much greater than the organization has seen in recent years and they face some real challenges in terms of collection and distribution. Before the pandemic hit, there were approximately 15.5 million children living in poverty in our country – they have no idea what that number looks like now…
- At the height of the pandemic,Toys for Tots made the decision to distribute 2 million toys, books, and games (that they planned to distribute at Christmas) to families who were struggling to provide some normalcy to their lives. This helped the American public tremendously, but it also means that the organization has to step up its game to replenish their depleted toy inventory.
- There are over 800 local campaigns across the country, and the word they are receiving from them is that the majority of campaigns are seeing a tremendous uptick in the request for toys and support because Covid has impacted so many sectors of our society. Because most people are shopping online rather than at box stores, they’re not seeing the iconic white collection boxes and Toys for Tots isn’t top-of-mind. So, local donations are sparse, and they can’t really hold awareness events.
If you are able, please join Goldfarb and Associates in making holiday wishes come true for local kids in the DMV (DC, Maryland and Virginia). We will set up a donation box at the entrance to our warehouse dock where you can safely pop open your trunk and donate a NEW UNWRAPPED TOY FOR AGES INFANTS TO 14 YEARS OLD for a contact free donation.
