Fuel heaters/coolers

The fuel heater reduces the viscosity of heavy fuel oil (HFO) and ensures it is fluid enough for efficient engine operation. Conversely, a fuel cooler maintains the fuel's temperature within optimal ranges, cooling unused heated liquid after returning from the fuel injection system.

High-pressure side components

High-pressure pump

A high-pressure fuel pump delivers fuel at significantly higher pressures, providing precise amounts of fuel for optimal engine performance. The pump assembly is supplied with fuel from the fuel supply pump within the low-pressure side, using a piston or plunger mechanism to compress and pressurize it. 

The fuel pressure regulator also ensures the fuel is delivered at the correct pressure to the injectors, resulting in a fine fuel mist being “sprayed” into the combustion chambers. The pump ensures efficient combustion, maximizing power output and improving fuel economy.

Accumulator

The accumulator is another vital component in the fuel injection system, responsible for increasing fuel volume and maintaining consistent pressure. Fuel injection nozzle

Fuel injection nozzles influence the mixture preparation, injection timing, injection rate, shape, and sealing at the injection’s end. Located in the intake manifold within the engine’s fuel injection system, it sprays fuel as a fine mist, providing efficient combustion.

The nozzle’s small opening atomizes fuel to mix with air, allowing for a complete combustion within the engine’s cylinders. Nozzle needle control actuators

Nozzle needle control actuators are electronically actuated components within the fuel injection system responsible for precisely injecting fuel according to calculations from the control unit. They consist of a valve body containing a magnet winding and guide for the nozzle needle, along with a nozzle needle with a magnet armature.

Once the control unit applies voltage to the magnet winding, the nozzle needle releases fuel through a precision borehole. Upon voltage drop, the nozzle retrieves, closing the borehole. This mechanism ensures accurate fuel injection rates, optimizing smooth operation while maximizing fuel efficiency.
